Friday, December 4, at 8:00AM, the Honorable Patricia Ocana Olivarez will conduct a swearing in ceremony for our Mustangville Minitropolis. She will be swearing in our city leaders, police department officers and Post Master.
Mustangville will have it's Grand Opening following a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, January 22. Our minitropolis is off to a great start and we look forward to showcasing our micro society to our invited guests.
All students participated in an election of city government officials for Mustangville, the Minitropolis at Mims. Our newly elected mayor, along with his council members, addressed the student body during the Friday morning assembly.
Our students competed in the third UIL Meet of this school year on Saturday, January 16 at Alton Elementary School. The Mims UIL team earned 2nd place Sweepstakes at the meet. Click here for all the results.
Our students competed in the second UIL meet for this school year on Saturday, December 12, at Waitz Elementary. Mims earned First Place Sweepstakes with 370 points. Click here to see the results!.
Our UIL team competed in the first UIL meet of the school year at Bryan Elementary on Saturday, November 14. Mims Elementary earned 1st Place Sweepstakes honors! Click here to see the results on our UIL Page.
On Thursday, December 10, our entire student body will be participating in an Hour of Code. Students will have first hand experience with computer science coding. Students may wear Star Wars themed shirts that day as they build a galaxy with code.
Students meet a reading at home goal set by their classroom teacher and earn a certificate good for a free personal pan pizza at Pizza Hut! Book It begins October 1 and runs through March.

Students in 4th and 5th grade are invited to participate in the Texas Citrus Fiesta Shoebox Float Contest. Floats should be turned in to Mrs. Benavides in the library no later than noon on Thursday, January 14. Click here for all the details!
District Wide Community Service Challenge! Please donate canned goods or non-perishable food items Nov. 30 - Dec. 11. We are competing with all the schools in MCISD to collect the most items for the Food Pantries of the RGV. Please donate!!
Students complete 6 hours of recreational reading and earn a free ticket to Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Reading is documented on a reading log and signed by a parent or guardian. The reading logs are returned to school on or before Jan.11, 2016. Tickets are issued at the end of May, perfect for summer fun.
Mims Elementary Fifth grade students will be honoring our veterans at 8:00 in the cafeteria.
