Mission and Vision

Mission Statement
Mims Elementary School, in partnership with the community, serves to provide
each student with a diverse education in a safe, supportive, caring environment
that promotes self-discipline, motivation, and excellence in learning. The
school’s organization, curriculum, and extracurricular activities are childcentered to assist our leaders of tomorrow in succeeding and contributing
responsibly to a global community.

Vision Statement
The vision of Mims Elementary School is to provide a culture in which students
are prepared for their future endeavors and learn to be responsible citizens. Our
vision will be accomplished by providing students with a challenging, engaging
curriculum that is supported by a wide variety of instructional methods. It is
essential that all relationships be based on respect, caring, and cooperation to
achieve the vision.
 
Collective Commitments (Values)
In order to ensure we live our mission and realize our vision, we will:
• Commit to life-long learning, on-going professional development, and
sharing and implementing relevant information and strategies into our
learning environment.
• Deliver meaningful, relevant, and differentiated curriculum that prepares
all students for the next level of learning.
• Provide differentiated instruction that incorporates conceptual, inquiry, and
research-based practices, as well as real world learning at student’s
instructional level.
• Use various and balanced assessments to guide instructional design and to
monitor students’ progress towards intended curricular outcomes.
• Provide a commitment for students to develop academic and life skills
necessary to make responsible choices, develop independence, and act
respectfully and collaboratively.
• Provide a supportive school atmosphere where everyone feels emotionally,
physically, and intellectually safe while acting with integrity, respect, and
honesty. 
 
SMART Goals
• By the end of the school year, campus’ State accountability will be an “A”.
• By the end of each grading period, student attendance will be 98% or better.
• By the end of the 1st grading period, all staff will receive/participate in
District required Health/Medical/Safety trainings (Intruder, Medical
Emergency Procedures, Stop the Bleed, etc.).
• By the end of the 1st grading period, all staff will be trained by campus
counselor on resources available to both students and staff.
• By the end of each grading period, students and staff will be recognized for
their effort and achievement.
• By the end of each grading period, our community (parents and students)
will be afforded the opportunity to participate in at least two school events
(literacy nights, Progress Report Night, Grade Level Meetings, etc.).
